Extraordinary, fantastic, unique...

Dinosaur parks, mines, castles that are (not only) haunted, open-air museums, deserts, Cromlechs and meteorite craters, old fortifications still hiding undiscovered treasures – there are countless unusual places in Poland. And it's high time that they were found in the programs of expeditions organized in Poland.

The foreign tourist who demands unusual experiences will find whatever he dreams of along the Vistula. Here are some examples:

Cromlechs: just on the Pomerania there is over a dozen such sites and they are a memorial to the Goths. The most popular are Węsiory and Odry. In Odry there are 30 kurgans and 10 stone circles. On the other hand, Węsiory are also called the Polish X-Files or Roswell, since besides the Cromlechs, UFOs have also been observed. Today these are popular Places of Power, in which devotees perform rituals to the sound of drums and gongs. In the Borkowo village you can see megaliths that are over 5,000 years old. Among them is a tomb chamber called dolmen, the only building of its type in our part of Europe. In Wietrzykowice (Kujawy-Pomerania Province) there is an archaeological reserve with partially reconstructed tombs from the Neolithic period (the so-called Funnelbeaker culture, which created the largest megalithic structures in Europe, with Stonehenge at the head). Skeletons with traces of successful trepanning have been found here! The only meteorite craters in Poland are located on the outskirts of Poznań, in the Morasko village (Wielkopolska Province). They were created 5,000 years ago when meteorites were hitting Earth. From among 7 craters the largest has a diameter of 90 meters!

Deserts: out of the three that are found in Poland, the most popular is the Błędów Desert located 17km from Dąbrowa Górnicza. The 32 sq km of desert (almost 10km long and 4km at its widest point) can be traveled by two routes - on foot or by horse. A bike trip will take you to the "Great Sands". The Biała Przemsza river flows through the desert. It's here that the German Afrika Korps trained during World War II. The moving dunes in the Słowiński National Park (Pomerania Province) which are inscribed on the UNESCO list, have "played" a desert in many movies.

Dinosaur Parks: in Poland there are already almost 10 and they are not necessarily the result of the fashionable prehistoric reptile trend which is widespread thanks to the movie Jurassic Park. They were typically created in places where traces of prehistoric reptiles had been discovered. This happened in Bałtów (Świętokrzyskie Province) – footprints of the Late Jurassic dinosaurs: allosaurus, stegosaurus, camptosaurus and compsognathus were found. To popularize this find, a real Jurassic Park was built – JuraPark Bałtów with models of the reptiles in their original sizes. A tour around it is a fantastic time for everyone: the littlies can travel in the alleys in dino -cars and frolic in a giant sandpit filled with dino-toys (for example, the slide is dinosaur jaws). www.juraparkbaltow.pl On the other hand, in Dinozatorland in Zator (Małopolska Province) giant reptile models spit, make noises, wave their tails and... pee! dinozatorland.pl

Castles: In one of the most beautiful castles in Poland – the Czocha Castle (Lower Silesia Province) from the Middle Ages, the ghosts of two ladies haunt the halls: one is of the beautiful Ulrika who was drowned for being unfaithful to her husband Joachim von Nostitz, and the other of Gertrude who, for a purse of gold, handed over the castle to invaders during the Hussite wars and paid for this with her head. Here during World War II the Germans hid part of the French intelligence archives with informers' briefcases, and it's possible that they also researched the V1, V2 and uranium weapons. Today there is a luxury hotel and the castle plays in movies, including Hollywood ones. zamek-czocha-lesna.eurobookings. com In the Krzyżtopór castle in Ujazd (Świętokrzyskie Province) the ghost of the black knight roams...
